One of the best ways to break into the fashion industry is to non-profit and other community organizations with their design and fashion needs. Perhaps one of the most creative things you may want to help plan for a local non-profit organization is a fashion show. This event can provide a creative and fun way for the organization to raise money and be in the spotlight. You can add this wonderful event to your resume making you that much more attractive to potential employers.

So how do you go about organizing a fashion show? Here are a few tips to help you along the way.

Decide the main purpose of the show — is this to raise money or is it to showcase a particular designer or organization. If you keep the purpose in mind, as well as a list of goals, during the planning phase your show will be much easier to plan.

Market your show through fliers, ads and other such advertising. You should also use these methods to get models to help; after all, they are a main part of a fashion show.

Make sure your event location is available and reserved.

Meet with and get to know your models. These people will need to know what they are wearing and in what order they will appear. You will also need their measurements to match the clothing with the proper model. If you have several model meetings, your show will run more smoothly.

Finally, have fun the day of the show. Fashion is fun!
