Modeling definitely seems like one of those glamorous careers that many women want to get into. What person wouldn’t want to feel beautiful by the whole world in ads for clothes? But really, modeling is long hours and hard work and many feel less than beautiful as their physical appearance is critiqued by fashion designers and photographers.

- Get lots of practice. There are many photographers who want to get more experience and need models willing to work for free. It’s a great way to get experience working with photographers and if the photographer one day gets hired for a job and remembers how great you were to work with, then he or she may recommend you for the job.
- Network with photographers and models. One of the best ways to break into the industry is to find others in the industry and network with them. This could be through social events or on Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Join local groups. Some areas have local groups for creative types like artists, photographers, actors, directors, models, etc. They collaborate on creative projects where anyone who wants to work on the project can. This is a great way to get experience and network.
- Get headshots. If you want to get hired as a model, you’ll want great headshots. It might cost you a little, but you’ll need it when you go out for jobs.
